Job summary

USA Health is seeking an Orthopaedic Technician to support casts, braces and splints for patients in Mobile, AL. The role includes measuring, fitting, patient education, and coordination with physicians.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited orthopaedic technology program credential and/or substantial experience, with emphasis on infection control and patient safety. Regular attendance and a team-focused approach are required.

Qualifications

• Performs splinting, casting, and application of traction, braces and other devices under the direction of an orthopedic physician or physician assistant.
• Education or experience may substitute for the required degrees as noted in the qualifications.
• Knowledge in infection control and safety practices is essential.

Responsibilities

• Applies casts, braces, and splints.
• Provides instructions to patients regarding the care of applied devices.
• Educates patients on signs of possible complications.
• Orders custom braces including measuring, fitting, and patient education.
• Orders supplies as needed.
• Performs KT-2000 testing.
• Maintains inventory in the cast room and related areas.
• Keeps a clean work area.
• Interacts with patients, faculty, and staff in person and by telephone.
• Completes mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements.
• Adheres to Infection Control and Safety Standards.
• Maintains regular and prompt attendance.
• Works schedule as defined and overtime as required.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
