Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of full-time experience as an orthopedic technician.
• Recognition certificate as Orthopedic Technician required.

Responsibilities

• Greets and explains casting procedures to patients.
• Applies casts, splints, soft goods, and traction per physician orders.
• Sets up traction for transporting patients between departments.
• Evaluates casts and related wounds; repairs or replaces as needed.
• Performs cast wedging and removal of casts per physician orders.
• Assists with insertion/removal of pins, reduction of fractures, and external fixations.
• Instructs patients on cast care, ambulation with crutches, and recognizing cast problems.
• Documents patient care, billing, and equipment use.
• May be assigned as Disaster Service Worker (DSW).
• Performs other related duties as required.
