Job summary

Contra Costa Health Department seeks an Orthopedic Technician to support ortho, plastic, and podiatry services. The role is based at the Martinez Health Center and requires travel to Pittsburg and West County Health Centers to see patients.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, six months of cast experience, and valid CPR certification. A California driver’s license is required for site travel, with NBCOT/NAOT substitution allowed for experience credits.

Qualifications

• Six months of full-time experience in application and removal of casts in a hospital, clinic or medical office setting, treating orthopedic patients.
• Valid California Driver's License (license required; out-of-state license accepted during application).
• CPR certification required and maintained during employment.
• Substitution: NBCOT orthopaedic certification OR completion of an orthopedic technician program per NAOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Support ortho, plastic and podiatry providers at the assigned clinics.
• Remove or apply casts.
• Apply compression dressings to patients.
• Fit cam boots, braces, night splints, diabetic shoes, ankle/knee braces and post-op shoes.
• Apply fiber glass splints and compression stockings.
