Job summary

Texas Orthopedics is seeking a Surgery Scheduler/Triage to coordinate clinical care outside of clinic visits and provide concierge patient service. You will schedule surgeries and imaging, document authorizations, and communicate with patients, providers, and third parties to keep care on track.

The role requires ensuring timely patient care, maintaining EMR documentation, and supporting physician workflows across multiple locations in the Austin area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CMA preferred.
• Two years as a medical assistant with hospital, home health, or office experience; orthopedics preferred.
• Two years of surgery scheduling experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computer systems and medical terminology.
• Pharmaceutical knowledge.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries, MRI’s, CT scans, Myelograms, Epidurals, etc., including pre-op, follow-up and initial PT appointments.
• Receive, document, and handle incoming calls and ensure timely communication with patients and providers.
• Submit medical records and obtain pre-authorization as needed.
• Consult with the appropriate provider to obtain medical necessity clearance before initiating requests to insurance.
• Document authorization numbers and dates in the EMR; monitor the process for accuracy.
• Assist with obtaining prior-authorization including eligibility verification and patient cost estimates.
