Job summary

Texas Orthopedics, a division of OrthoLoneStar, is seeking a Surgery Scheduler/Triage in Austin, TX. The role ensures efficient coordination of surgeries, imaging, and pre/post-operative activities while maintaining high-quality patient care.

You will liaise with physicians, patients, and insurance providers to secure approvals, schedule procedures, and document critical information in the EMR. A CMA certification is preferred, with prior orthopedics scheduling experience beneficial.

Qualifications

• Two years as a medical assistant in hospital, home health, or office setting; orthopedics preferred.
• Two years of surgery scheduling experience preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, document, and handle incoming calls.
• Schedule surgeries, imaging, pre-ops and follow-up appointments.
• Complete surgery checklists and review physician schedules.
• Submit medical records and obtain pre-authorization as needed.
• Coordinate with providers to ensure medical necessity and insurance processes.
• Document authorization numbers in EMR and monitor adverse events.
• Assist with prior-auth and patient cost estimates; manage prescriptions and orders.
• Maintain confidentiality and support across a combination clinic/office environment.
