Job summary

Avera Orthopedics 69th & Louise in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a medical scheduler to support the orthopedic clinic Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The role includes completing pre-authorizations, scheduling tests and procedures, and coordinating pre-operative information with patients.

Responsibilities include obtaining physician orders for scheduling, coordinating care between departments and facilities, maintaining records and calendars, and ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Strong organizational and clerical skills to schedule tests/procedures and manage referrals.

Responsibilities

• Obtains information from physician offices to schedule tests, procedures and admissions accurately and timely.
• Facilitates planning of care across departments and coordinates telemedicine needs as applicable.
• Coordinates care between facilities to ensure continuity of care.
• Communicates information to physicians, staff, families, etc., in a professional manner.
• Assists with collection and maintenance of records for accreditation, regulatory compliance, or legal requirements.
• Coordinates scheduling of specialized equipment based on procedures.
• Maintains physician calendar and procedure schedule and coordinating orders for procedures.
