Job summary

Flagstaff Bone and Joint seeks an experienced medical coder/biller to manage coding, billing, denials, and accounts receivable, ensuring accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding in line with guidelines.

The role requires CPC certification and orthopedic/spine coding expertise, with familiarity in Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and secondary plans. Remote consideration is available for the right candidate; based in Flagstaff, AZ, or surrounding area.

Qualifications

• Orthopedic/spine coding experience
• CPC certification and surgical billing experience
• Experience with Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and secondary plans
• Ability to communicate and coach providers on proper billing practices
• Familiarity with ICD-10 coding trends

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret medical information in the medical record and assign/sequence correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes
• Enter surgical charges with correct modifiers and ICD-10 codes
• Interact with practice to resolve claim denials
• Understand encounter/billing process and payer policies to maximize reimbursement
• Identify opportunities for billing/coding improvements and participate in quality programs
• Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards
• Handle additional duties as assigned by management
• Collaborate with team and healthcare providers to ensure accurate coding and billing
