Job summary

Flagstaff Bone and Joint is seeking a Medical Coder with orthopedic/spine coding experience in Flagstaff, AZ. CPC certification and surgical billing/adjudication experience are required to join our Revenue Cycle team.

Office-based role with remote flexibility for qualified candidates, reporting to the Revenue Cycle Manager. Responsibilities include accurate coding of records, entering surgical charges, handling denials, and ensuring compliant reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Must have orthopedic/spine coding experience and the ability to review and natively code complex operative procedure reports.
• CPC certification required and surgical billing experience.
• Experience with Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and secondary insurance plans.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret medical information in records and assign codes (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS) per guidelines.
• Enter surgical charges with correct modifiers and ICD-10 codes.
• Interact with the practice to resolve claim denials and answer questions.
• Research coding issues using medical references to ensure maximum reimbursement and compliance.
• Identify opportunities for coding improvements and participate in programs for monitoring compliance.
• Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards.
• Take on projects as assigned by management.
• Collaborate with team and communicate with providers and staff.
