Qualifications

• Current MA Certification from a recognized certifying body.
• At least one year of experience as a medical assistant; orthopaedic setting a plus.
• Demonstrated focus on patient experience with compassionate care.
• Energetic, efficient and able to manage patient flow with consistent care.
• Flexible and dependable, with timely attendance.
• CPR certified and trained.

Responsibilities

• Politely escort patients from waiting room to exam room.
• Take patient histories, obtain chief complaints, take vital signs, and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
• Review patient charts and files for completeness.
• Prepare equipment and supplies for clinical procedures such as aspirations, injections, and X-rays.
• Administer injections, remove casts, splints, and dressings as directed by physician.
• Prepare prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
• Coordinate patient surgeries including scheduling, insurance coverage and pre-certification for surgeries if needed.
• Respond to patient and payor phone calls.
• Order and maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment.
• Maintain patient files in the EHR and document as necessary.
• Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
