Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; education cannot be substituted.
• Certified Medical Assistant credential from an approved issuer required; BLS preferred.
• Three to five years of Medical Assistant experience with proficiency in clinical/admin tasks.
• Prior hands-on experience with orthopedic casting is required.
• Strong leadership and team-management skills; knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Medical Assistant team, including day-to-day direction, training, mentoring, performance guidance, and support for professional growth.
• Assign tasks and responsibilities, balance workloads, coordinate coverage schedules, and promote the effective use of staffing and resources.
• Foster a positive, collaborative environment that supports teamwork, accountability, clear communication, and exceptional patient care.
• Serve as a liaison among site-based clinical staff, Practice Manager, and Medical Director/physicians; facilitate communication and address priorities.
• Coordinate patient flow to support timely, efficient delivery of care.
• Prepare patients for examinations; obtain and document medical histories, vital signs, height/weight, and blood pressure.
• Assist providers with clinical care, procedures, orthopedic casting, specimen collection, phlebotomy when appropriate, and other MA duties.
• Provide clinical oversight for quality-control programs and participate in quality/safety initiatives.
• Coordinate new clinical initiatives and implement workflows to improve quality and efficiency.
• Participate in interviews for MA candidates and serve as a preceptor for new hires/students.
• Assist with competency assessments and contribute to performance evaluations.
• Maintain immunization inventory and administer vaccines when qualified.
