Qualifications

  • 1 year of orthodontic assisting experience or strong interest in orthodontics.
  • Pennsylvania X-ray License or ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • CPR Certification (in-house training provided).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures, including changing wires.
  • Maintain clean treatment rooms in compliance with CDC and OSHA regulations.
  • Update treatment card notes for each visit.

We proudly serve communities across Central Pennsylvania—including Carlisle, Camp Hill, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, and Enola—delivering orthodontic care in a welcoming and supportive environment where patients of all ages feel comfortable and cared for.

Position Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support our growing team! In this role, you'll assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures, manage supplies, and contribute to the overall success of the clinical operations. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing outstanding care. Travel between our locations is required, as this position supports multiple offices as we continue to grow as an office.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform clinical procedures as directed by the orthodontist, including changing wires
  • Assist doctor in explaining treatment plan and progress
  • Review instructions with patient/parent
  • Assist doctor in fitting/delivering orthodontic appliances and all other clinical office needs
  • Maintain supplies and carts
  • Update treatment card notes for each visit
  • Review patients health history and update changes after seating
  • Radiography patients as needed
  • Take records (scan and load photographs)
  • Maintain clean treatment rooms in compliance with all CDC and OSHA regulations
  • Set up and turn over room efficiently
  • Maintain and sterilize dental equipment
  • Perform other duties as requested by Practice Administrator or dentists
  • Notify Practice Administrator in a timely manner when out sick
  • Check appliances delivered to the office before appointments

Requirements

What You'll Bring:

  • Graduate of a Dental Assistant program (or graduating within 3 months)
  • 1 year of orthodontic assisting experience or strong interest in orthodontics
  • Pennsylvania X-ray License or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • CPR Certification (in-house training provided)
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and Infection Control protocols
  • Clearances: Child Abuse, Criminal Background, FBI Fingerprinting
Preferred (Not Required)
  • Experience with Open Dental software
  • Experience working with children and families in a dental setting
