Job summary

Lone Peak Dental Group in Youngstown is seeking a dedicated Orthodontic Assistant to support our pediatric patients and clinicians in a fast-paced, kid-friendly environment.

The role involves preparing treatment rooms, assisting during procedures, taking X-rays, and maintaining equipment. The ideal candidate has X-ray and CPR certification, plus 1 year of orthodontic experience or completion of an accredited program.

Qualifications

• X-ray and CPR certification are required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in an ortho practice preferred, with training offered.
• Completion of an accredited orthodontic assistant program preferred.
• Experience with Denticon software or iTero scanners is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms for orthodontic procedures.
• Assist orthodontists during patient appointments and procedures.
• Take and develop dental X-rays.
• Maintain orthodontic instruments and equipment.
• Instruct patients on proper oral hygiene and care techniques.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and assist with patient scheduling.
• Keep accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensuring smooth patient flow and maintaining a kid-friendly environment.

Requirements:

• X‑ray and CPR certification is required
• Minimum 1 year experience in an ortho practice is preferred, but we will train the right person!
• Completion of an accredited orthodontic assistant program preferred
• Additional certification or training is a plus

• Full‑time role (30+ hours per week).

A Typical Day as an Orthodontic Assistant:

• Prepare treatment rooms for orthodontic procedures.
• Assist orthodontists during patient appointments and procedures.
• Take and develop dental X‑rays.
• Maintain orthodontic instruments and equipment.
• Instruct patients on proper oral hygiene and care techniques.
• Schedule follow‑up appointments and assist with patient scheduling.
• Keep accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensuring smooth patient flow and maintaining a kid‑friendly environment.

Schedule:

• Some Saturdays may be required
• Daytime hours – No nights!
