Job summary

RisasDental and Braces is seeking a positive Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. You will work hands-on with doctors, educate patients, and help provide top-tier orthodontic care.

The role requires bilingual Spanish/English, a dental assisting certificate, and X-ray within 3 months; coronal polish preferred. We offer growth, comprehensive benefits, and a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish/English.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Dental Assisting Certificate preferred.
• X-ray certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Coronal polish certification preferred.
• 1-2 years' experience as an Orthodontic Assistant preferred.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have a superior knowledge of dental clinical operations and terminology.
• Ability to anticipate the needs of the doctor and patients.
• Must have a warm friendly, outgoing personality and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work within a team environment and lend support to teammates as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctors in all dental procedures and orthodontic treatments.
• Sterilize, disinfect, and prepare instruments and equipment for patient treatment.
• Check all patient dental appliances prior to adjustment and remove if necessary.
• Assist with bonding, banding, debonding, and coronal polishing procedures.
• Assist in adjustments including wire changes, tie changes, placing separators, and bite stops.
• Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures of patients in an efficient and timely manner.
• Educate patients on general oral healthcare as directed by the doctor.
• Present treatment to patients based on Doctor recommendations.
• Record patient charting and all the doctor's notes in the digital patient chart as directed.
• Maintain inventory and supplies.
• Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, and Risas policies and practices).
• Any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
