Job summary

Vitana Pediatric & Orthodontic Partners in Town of Florida, NY, is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support the orthodontist and clinical team with high-quality patient care in a patient-centered environment.

You will prepare and sterilize instruments, take dental impressions and scans, place and remove appliances under supervision, and educate patients on oral care while maintaining accurate records and complying with OSHA and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Prior orthodontic assisting experience is preferred.
• Dental Assistant certification as required by state.
• X-ray certification as required by state.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Experience with dental software (Dentrix, Ortho2, Open Dental) preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms
• Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs
• Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision (brackets, wires, bands, etc.)
• Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed
• Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols
• Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover
• Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies

Position Overview
