Job summary

Risas Dental and Braces in Chandler, AZ is seeking a positive and professional Orthodontic Assistant to join the Risas Family. You will work hands-on with doctors, educate patients on treatments, and use the latest technology to deliver exceptional care.

Ideal candidates have HS diploma or GED, dental assisting certificate, X-ray certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months), and 1–2 years of orthodontic experience. Bilingual Spanish/English and strong communication skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have bilingual Spanish/English communication.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Dental assisting certificate preferred.
• X-ray certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Coronal polish certification preferred.
• 1–2 years experience as orthodontic assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctors in orthodontic procedures and treatments.
• Sterilize, disinfect, and prepare instruments and equipment.
• Check patient appliances before adjustments and remove if needed.
• Assist with bonding, banding, debonding, and coronal polishing.
• Handle wire changes, separators, and bite stops during adjustments.
• Complete X-rays and intra-oral photos efficiently.
• Educate patients on general oral healthcare as directed.
• Present treatment plans to patients per doctor recommendations.
• Record chart notes in digital patient chart.
• Maintain inventory and supplies.
• Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and policies.

Responsibilities

• Assistdoctors in all dental procedures andorthotreatments
• Sterilize,disinfect,and prepareinstruments andequipmentfor patienttreatment
• Check all patientdentalappliances prior toadjustmentand remove ifnecessary
• Assistwith bonding, banding,debonding,and coronal polishingprocedures
• Assistin adjustments including wirechanges,tie changes, placing separators,andbitestops
• Complete x-raysandintra-oral picturesof patients in an efficient and timely manner
• Educate patients on general oral healthcare asdirected by thedoctor
• Present treatment to patients based onDoctorrecommendations
• Record patient charting and all the doctor’s notes in the digital patient chart asdirected
• Maintain inventory andsupplies
• Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations, (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, andRisaspolicies and practices)
• Anyadditionalduties andresponsibilitiesasassigned

Qualifications

• Dental Assisting Certificatepreferred
• X-ray certification orability to obtainwithin 3months ofhire

• 1-2years' experienceas an Orthodontic Assistantpreferred
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Must have asuperior knowledge of dental clinical operationsandterminology
• Ability toanticipatethe needs of the doctor andpatients
• Must haveawarmfriendly, outgoing personality and excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work within a team environment and lendsupport, as a team player,to teammatesas needed.
