Job summary

Akron Smiles in Akron is seeking an Orthodontic Assistant to support pediatric patients. You will prepare rooms, assist with procedures, take X-rays, and help maintain instruments. This full-time role offers a kids-first environment and training when needed.

Requirements include X-ray and CPR certification; at least 1 year ortho experience preferred. Denticon or iTero experience is a plus. 30+ hour work weeks with some Saturdays may be required.

Qualifications

• X-ray and CPR certification is required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in an ortho practice is preferred, but we will train the right person.
• Completion of an accredited orthodontic assistant program preferred.
• Additional certification or training is a plus.
• Experience with Denticon software or iTero scanners is a plus.
• Full-time role (30+ hours per week).

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms for orthodontic procedures.
• Assist orthodontists during patient appointments and procedures.
• Take and develop dental X-rays.
• Maintain orthodontic instruments and equipment.
• Instruct patients on proper oral hygiene and care techniques.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and assist with scheduling.
• Keep accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensure smooth patient flow and maintain a kid-friendly environment.

A Typical Day as an Orthodontic Assistant

Schedule

• 8‑hour shifts
• Some Saturdays may be required
• Daytime hours – No nights!
