Job summary

Vail-Summit Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to schedule procedures, tests, and surgeries in line with provider orders. The role is full-time, with 8a-5p MST, Monday through Friday, and some additional hours may be required.

Applicants must reside in Colorado and be able to work 8a-5p MST. The position offers benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO, and continuing education funds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year work experience in healthcare and/or clinical environment highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules medical procedures, diagnostic tests, office visits and surgeries for patients with appropriate provider. Completes pre-procedure communications with patients.
• Effectively utilizes clinical knowledge when determining if appointment is consistent with the diagnosis/indications specified by the provider.
• Verifies insurance(s) coverage and benefit information for diagnostic imaging, special procedures, including surgery.
• Obtains authorizations for diagnostic imaging and procedures.
• Ensures patients have the proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
• Interfaces with staff to ensure all necessary equipment is prepared for procedures.
• Communicates notes or special instructions with patients and providers as required.
• Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparations, time of patient’s scheduled arrival, and any other directional information needed; takes appropriate action in responding to questions from patients.
• Meet the Company’s expectations as described in the VSON Policies and Practices.
• Maintain confidentiality of Personal Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with company Policies and State and Federal laws, including OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
• Perform job in accordance with all company safety practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
