Life Connection of Ohio is seeking an Organ Recovery Coordinator I for the night shift in the Dayton area, based in Kettering, OH. You will evaluate donor referrals, coordinate organ recovery, and ensure compliance with CMS/OPTN/UNOS guidelines while supporting families and hospital staff.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing, respiratory therapy, EMT, paramedic or related science; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in Organ Recovery Coordinator or hospital ER/ICU/surgical settings preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the highest standards of professional conduct and interpersonal relationship development; promotes a positive, collaborative work environment.
• Responds to initial organ donor referrals and follows up on referred patients while on shift.
• Completes donor referrals evaluations to determine organ/tissue donor suitability per LCO, CMS, OPTN/UNOS, AOPO, CDC guidelines.
• Understands legal and hospital requirements for death declaration and organ donation.
• Identifies next-of-kin per state law and UAGA; assesses family dynamics and needs.
• Clinically manages donor per LCO protocols under supervision, allocates organs per policy, and coordinates OR recovery.
• Identifies risk factors per LCO/regulatory guidelines; manages donor physiology under supervision.
• Handles blood, culture, and tissue typing specimen collection and labeling per procedures.
• Reviews donor records (labs, diagnostics, procedures) and documents required information.
• Coordinates transportation and logistics of organs, blood, tissue typing materials, and recovery teams.
• Coordinates interdepartmental processes and post-recovery communications.
• Complies with LCO/OPTN/UNOS documentation and confidentiality requirements.
• Performs quality control on donor records and supports quality improvement projects.
