Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking an Organ Procurement Coordinator to manage donor referrals, obtain authorization, and coordinate organ recovery with CMS/OPTN standards. You will lead teams, collaborate with physicians and nurses, and ensure timely decisions to obtain transplantable organs.

The role requires 3+ years in donor management, CMS-certified OPO experience, and willingness to travel within the service area. RN/PA/RRT credentials and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in donor management and organ allocation
• CMS-certified OPO experience preferred
• Extensive critical care experience preferred
• Public speaking experience preferred
• Teaching/precepting experience preferred
• Trauma Center experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Respond to organ donor referrals and offers in a timely, sensitive manner
• Obtain authorization for organ and tissue donation from families
• Ensure donor organs meet CMS, CDC, and OPTN safety standards
• Direct hospital physicians and nurses in donor evaluation and management
• Coordinate organ allocation per OPTN policy and resolve compliance barriers
• Oversee organ recovery procedures including recovery, labeling, packing, and transport
• Maintain accurate records of referral, authorization, evaluation, optimization, allocation, recovery, and distribution
• Provide outcomes of donation procedures to donor families, medical examiners, recipient centers, donor hospitals and tissue banks
• Collaborate with hospital departments to provide clinical education and train new coordinators
