Job summary

Network for Hope is seeking an Organ Recovery Coordinator to manage donor referrals, evaluations, and recovery efforts across hospital and surgical teams. The role emphasizes compassionate donor family support, strict regulatory compliance, and coordination with OPTN.

The position requires 2 years of healthcare experience, CTPC certification or plans to obtain it within a year, and a bachelor's or equivalent health-related degree. Travel and on-call duties are considerable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health-related field preferred; Associate degree with four years' experience acceptable.
• RN or other healthcare licensure preferred; CTPC certification required or must be obtained within one year.
• 2 years of clinical healthcare-related experience required; 1 year in critical care, emergency, donation or transplant settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with hospital staff to evaluate potential organ donors for suitability, reviewing medical histories, lab data, and family dynamics.
• Respond promptly to donor referrals and conduct thorough medical evaluations.
• Coordinate healthcare personnel in the organ/tissue donation process.
• Oversee medical management of potential organ donors, maintaining hemodynamic stability.
• Work with ICU/hospital staff to ensure donor care.
• Provide compassionate support to donor families discussing donation opportunities.
• Organize and facilitate organ recovery, including OR schedules and transport logistics.
• Assist surgical teams during organ recovery and ensure proper preservation and transport.
• Coordinate with transplant centers and OPTN for organ allocation to recipients.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all donation activities and ensure compliance.
• Participate in quality assurance, staff education, and organizational projects.
