Job summary

Confidential is seeking an Organ Recovery Coordinator I to evaluate potential donor referrals, coordinate clinical care, and maximize donation opportunities in Kentucky and surrounding regions.

You will work with hospital teams, manage organ allocation, recovery, preservation, transportation, and documentation, reporting to the Manager of Recovery Services. A 12-hour shift pattern and travel across sites are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing, respiratory therapy, EMT, paramedic or related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred in nursing, respiratory therapy, or related biological science.
• Experience in organ recovery coordination or hospital settings preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with sound judgment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to individual needs and values.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet-based systems.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required within 12 months; Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Respond to donor referrals and determine organ suitability using guidelines.
• Identify legal next-of-kin and assess family needs.
• Clinically manage donors under established protocols with hospital teams.
• Coordinate organ allocation, recovery, preservation, and transport.
• Maintain confidential donor records and support quality improvement.
• Support departmental education and staff development.
