Job summary

Stitch Fix is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Order Management team in the United States. You will set technical direction for checkout, order creation, lifecycle management, and fulfillment orchestration, owning initiatives from discovery to delivery and partnering with Product, Engineering, and Operations.

You will design reliable, scalable services and drive decisions across data flows and integrations, with a focus on correctness, observability, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with backend/ distributed systems.
• Fluent in at least one modern language (Go, Ruby, Java, Python); stack is primarily Go and Ruby.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Proven track record leading complex, multi-sprint initiatives from discovery to launch.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to mentor engineers and raise the technical bar.
• Commitment to automated testing, CD, observability, safe releases, and incident learning.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, or related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi-sprint Order Management initiatives from design to production rollout.
• Design and build reliable services and workflows for checkout, order lifecycle, and partner integrations.
• Drive technical decisions with trade-off analyses balancing deliverables and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations to define scope, milestones, and success criteria.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence through reviews and best practices.
