Job summary

University Health is hiring an Operating Room Surgical Technologist for Lakewood Medical Center, supporting a fast-paced surgical team in a role focused on asepsis and instrument readiness.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, plus a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training, and at least three years of scrub experience. A current BLS certification and successful orientation are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (CAAHEP) or military training as a surgical corpsman/ medic.
• Three years of hands-on scrub experience across a variety of procedures.
• Current BLS certification maintained throughout employment.
• Successful completion of OR department orientation and skills competency evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, organize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment for a wide variety of procedures.
• Ensure a sterile environment and uphold all principles of surgical asepsis throughout procedures.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons and the surgical team, anticipating needs and responding efficiently during procedures.
• Adapt quickly to changes in patient condition or procedure requirements.
• Serve as a mentor and resource for surgical technologists new to the OR or currently in orientation.
