Job summary

Aurora Medical Center – Washinton County is seeking a Surgical Tech/Assistant to support operating room teams in a fast-paced environment. You will assist with aseptic technique, gowning, draping, and instrument handling, ensuring a sterile field and efficient case flow.

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required; no prior experience is necessary. BLS must be obtained within 6 months, with opportunities for professional development and growth within the OR team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques for preparing materials and assisting procedures.
• Familiarity with operating room equipment and setup for cases.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency for documentation and records.
• Team-based approach and willingness to maintain certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe surgical area and sterile field for procedures.
• Assist in gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments as needed.
• Set up operating room, move equipment, and ensure proper readiness between cases.
• Function as Second Assistant when required and report equipment issues.
• Transport patients and supplies; manage supply carts and sterility.
• Position and move patients safely; adhere to age-specific care standards.
