Job summary

AdventHealth in Glendale Heights, IL seeks a Surgical Technologist to support surgeons during procedures and maintain sterile technique. The role involves preparing instruments, monitoring room conditions, and assisting with patient safety and turnover in a dynamic operating room environment.

The candidate will pass instruments, maintain asepsis, and collaborate with perioperative staff. PRN schedule may include day shifts and call hours; BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical equivalent in Surgical Technology.
• High School Grad or equivalent required; Associates preferred.
• Surgical technology program completion is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the surgeon during procedures with sponging, suctioning, and passing instruments.
• Monitor OR conditions and prepare instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• supervise other team members in the surgical environment and provide orientation and training.
• Maintain sterile technique and prepare sterile fields for procedures.
• Assist with room turnover and prepare the OR for next case.
• Count instruments and sharps for accuracy and safety as per policy.
• Verify patient and site during time-out and address discrepancies.
