Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare’s St. Marys Regional Hospital in Grand Junction seeks a Surgical Services Support Technician. You will transport patients to and from the OR and PACU, assist with room turnover, and help maintain sterile environments.

You’ll support OR and anesthesia requests and transport specimens per safety protocols. The role emphasizes teamwork with the surgical team, adherence to aseptic technique, and readiness to respond to code situations while supporting prompt turnovers.

Qualifications

• BLS certification for Healthcare Providers or completion within 3 months of employment.
• Complete Basic Aseptic Technique class within 90 days of hire or transfer into role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to fulfill on-call and weekend shift requirements and provide emergency staffing support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely to and from OR holding area, PACU or patient rooms using proper handling techniques.
• Consults with anesthesiologist and RN to determine equipment/setup needs prior to procedures.
• Processes post-surgical case carts and sends carts to Sterile Processing for reprocessing.
• Sets up fluid warmers, invasive lines, and sterile supplies for anesthesia.
• Ensures timely turnover of ORs by cleaning surfaces, removing trash, and preparing room for next case.
• Transports blood products and specimens to/from blood bank, OR, SDS, PACU, and lab.
• Stocks supplies in OR, SDS, and PACU as directed.
• Completes training in Basic Aseptic Technique, learns to scrub, gown, and glove independently.
