Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician at St. Marys Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, CO. The role covers cleaning, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing basic surgical instruments across Level 1–3 duties, with certification requirements through HSPA.

Overtime and potential on-call duties may apply. Training provided to achieve competency. Level 1–3 responsibilities include inventory, labeling, IFU adherence, and collaboration with providers.

Qualifications

• Must attain Central Processing Certification from HSPA within one year of hire date.
• Central Processing Certification from HSPA is required for Level 2-3.
• High School Diploma is preferred.
• CER or CIS certification through HSPA (Level 3) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, and disinfect basic surgical instruments.
• Identify, assemble, protect, wrap, contain, peel pack, label and sterilize basic instruments.
• Print needs lists and collect items for procedures.
• Issue sterile supplies to hospital areas and receive durable equipment.
• Perform basic inventory duties as required.
• Communicate effectively with providers, caregivers, and vendors.
• Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, and disinfect instruments across Level 2 and 3 procedures.
• Validate sterilization tests and record parameters before equipment use.
• Teach and precept students and new SPD caregivers.
