Job summary

Qualifications

• Current or compact RN license issued by the State of Iowa.
• Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience preferred.
• BLS certification required within 6 weeks of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training completed within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and circulates on cases independently with minimal direction.
• Prepares for surgical cases and anticipates needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and OR team.
• Maintains aseptic technique and safe environment for patient and staff.
• Collects data and assesses patient for nursing diagnoses.
• Communicates effectively with patient, staff, physicians and families.
• Initiates and directs room turnover.
• Participates in orientation and training of new personnel.
• Uses computer for surgical documentation and disposition of specimens.
• Attends department meetings and inservices.
