Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking an inventory-focused role within the Operating Room support team. The position manages department inventory, supports accurate charge capture, and helps control costs while maintaining strong vendor relationships.

You will handle stock levels, back orders, and room turnover in a fast-paced perioperative environment. Responsibilities include maintaining KanBan systems, assisting with scheduling, and ensuring accurate billing with CPT/HCPCS coding knowledge.

Qualifications

• Manage department inventory and prevent stockouts.
• Support charge capture and cost containment processes.
• Review and revise billing and vendor-related activities.
• Maintain KanBan and other supply-tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Controls department specific inventory and anticipates outdated inventory.
• Responds to materials management concerns related to back orders.
• Prepares justification for variances based on general ledger.
• Investigates consignment opportunities and volume discounts.
• Reviews/revises charge system as needed.
• Establishes and maintains professional relationships with vendors.
• OR Maintains ordering, tracking and billing for the Surgical Tissue Bank.
• Assists with room turnover and at the front desk (phones/scheduling).
