Job summary

Mass General Brigham in Danvers, MA seeks a Per Diem Patient Care Associate to support the OR team with patient transport, transfer safety, and day-shift coverage.

The role emphasizes patient/family-focused interactions, adherence to safety, and collaboration with surgical staff to keep the OR schedule running smoothly. This is an onsite, day-shift position with no holidays or weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be able to comprehend written directions for mixing cleaning supplies and ordering supplies.
• Must be aware of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with other health care members.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team.
• Must constantly be alert and attentive to progress of O.R. schedule to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a philosophy of patient/family-focused care through cordial greetings and interactions with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
• Provides hospital and unit orientation information for guests, patients, and families.
• Demonstrates awareness of hospital systems and procedures, the location of all departments, procedure areas, and other patient services.
• Refers patients, families, and others to appropriate resources.
• Independently transports and assists in the transfer of patients.
• Properly identifies patients utilizing two approved identifiers.
• Ensures safety and support measures during patient transfers (i.e., bedrails raised, patient covered with a blanket and kept warm).
• Is aware of special precautions required when transferring patients on precautions.
