Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care Experience 0–1 year required.
• Operating Room Experience 0–1 year preferred.
• Must be able to comprehend written directions for mixing cleaning supplies and ordering supplies.
• Must be aware of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a philosophy of patient/family focused care through cordial greetings and interactions with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
• Provides hospital/unit orientation information for guests, patients, and families.
• Demonstrates an awareness of hospital systems and procedures, the location of all departments, procedure areas, and other patient services.
• Refers patients, families, and others to appropriate resources.
• Independently transports and assists in the transfer of patients.
• Properly identifies patients utilizing two approved identifiers.
• Ensures safety and support measures during patient transfers (i.e., bedrails raised, patient covered with a blanket, and kept warm).
• Is aware of special precautions when transferring patients with precautions.
