Job summary

Visionworks of America is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for onsite and remote examinations, perform pre-exam diagnostic tests, and explain each step of the process.

You will act as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, assist the doctor with patient care, document results in EMR, and help ensure a smooth patient journey from arrival to checkout, while maintaining accurate records and supporting insurance preauthorization.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in optical or healthcare settings.
• Medical office professionalism and knowledge of EMR preferred.
• Willingness to train and obtain clinical certification(s).

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather medical history for EMR.
• Assist onsite and remote exams; document results accurately in EMR.
• Explain testing steps to patients and coordinate remote video sessions.
• Preauthorize insurance and schedule follow-ups with retail staff.
• Maintain patient records and support HIPAA compliance.
