Job summary

Visionworks of America is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to deliver a seamless patient journey from registration through initial testing. You will support on-site and remote examinations, document results in the EMR, and guide patients through the early steps of their eye-care experience.

You will also coordinate with doctors and retail staff to ensure smooth visits, explain plan benefits, preauthorize insurance, and triage questions.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office/business professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and gather/submit medical history and ocular health data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and explain preliminary testing to patients; document results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exam process: pre-testing, testing, and documentation; initiate video conferencing as needed.
• Transition patient to retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and preauthorize insurance per SOP.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books, including no-shows and cancellations.
• Maintain patient flow and answer clinical questions via in-person or phone contacts.
