Job summary

The Indian Health Service in Hemet, CA is seeking an optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care, perform ophthalmic examinations, diagnose and manage ocular diseases, and deliver emergency eye care in outpatient and inpatient settings.

This federal role requires Doctor of Optometry, NBEO licensure, and an unrestricted state license. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized, and a probationary period may apply.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctor of Optometry from an ACOTE-accredited program.
• Licensure: NBEO passing scores and current unrestricted license.
• Experience: GS-11/12 level responsibilities may apply with residency or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs the full range of professional optometric duties including examinations, diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye diseases with comprehensive primary eye care.
• Provide emergency ocular care in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Maintain patient records and coordinate care across services.
