Job summary

AEG Vision in Murray, KY is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors and deliver high-quality patient care. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, manage the doctor’s schedule, and help ensure a smooth, efficient patient experience from check-in to checkout.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, collecting medical histories, noting findings in EHR, handling referrals, and maintaining clean exam areas.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity, etc.
• Performs verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues and reasons for their visit to provide details to Optometrist.
• May be required to schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists, Diagnostic follow-up visits, and other specialty referrals, and complete paperwork.
• Records and maintain patient records / files in compliance with company, federal, and state policies (HIPAA).
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems referring to the Optometrist as necessary.
