Job summary

Silicon Valley Eyecare Optometry and Contact Lenses is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists and enhance patient care from intake to post-exam. You will perform pre-testing, help with specialty tests, and help manage the doctor’s schedule to ensure efficient visits.

The ideal candidate will have experience evaluating patients for eye exams, familiarity with eye treatment terminology, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity.
• May be required to schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists, Diagnostic follow-up visits, and other specialty referrals, and complete paperwork.
• Records and maintain patient records / files in compliance with company, federal, and state policies (HIPAA).
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems referring to the Optometrist as necessary.
• May be required to perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Documents medical findings and communication between Optometrist and patient in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Ensures maximum schedule utilization through pre-appointment confirmation and recalls.
• Performs contact lens insertion and removal classes and manages contact lens orders.
• Performs other duties within the practice as requested.
