Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists in patient care and education. You will perform pre‑testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage the doctor's schedule to ensure a smooth, high‑quality patient experience from start to finish.

The role requires completing pre‑exam evaluations, assisting with Verifications such as OCT or visual field tests, and maintaining patient records in EHR systems in compliance with HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT) preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a professional setting.
• Experience maintaining patient records per HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (e.g., dilation, topical medications, diagnostic testing, Visual fields).
• Assist with specialty diagnostic testing and post-exam tasks.
• Manage doctor’s appointment schedule for efficient patient flow.
• Record and maintain patient records in EHR systems in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Schedule referrals to ophthalmologists or other specialists when needed.
• Handle contact lens insertion/removal instruction and manage inventory.
