Job summary

VSP Vision in Norwalk, CA is seeking an Optometric Technician to assist the optometrist with eye examinations and patient care, including pre-testing, taking patient history, and guiding patients through the clinical experience.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, operating instruments, administering tests, handling contact lens fitting and education, scribe duties, and supporting front- and back-office tasks to ensure smooth patient flow and a positive clinic experience.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of related field experience.
• Strong communication with patients and staff.
• Accurate documentation of information.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Familiarity with ophthalmic terminology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients before the examination by gathering information about vision and history and documenting in the patient record.
• Operate instruments and take measurements to assess visual capabilities.
• Perform contact lens insertion and educate patients on handling lenses.
• Order and manage contact lens trials and inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications.
• Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed.
• Prioritize patient care and flow while communicating with doctors and staff.
• Assist in therapy exercises under supervision of the Optometrist.
• Support front and back office tasks as needed to maintain efficiency.
• Engage in cross-training and special projects as assigned.
