AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists in patient care and education. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and manage the doctor’s schedule to ensure efficient, high‑quality patient experiences.

Responsibilities include preliminary patient evaluations, patient interviews, scheduling referrals, and maintaining accurate records in EHRs. On-site, full-time position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsabilités

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity.
• Performs verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues and reasons for their visit.
• Schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists and other specialty referrals as needed; complete paperwork.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications, treatments, and referrals.
• Perform diagnostic testing with specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document medical findings and communications in EHR; assist with medical documentation and CPT/billing tasks.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization via confirmations and recalls; reschedule no-shows when needed.
• Handle contact lens insertion/removal classes and manage inventory and orders.
• Complete end-of-day tasks like schedule wrap-up and checklists.
• Keep frame boards and work areas clean and organized.
