Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists in delivering high-quality patient care. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, handle post-exam tasks, and manage the doctor's scheduling to ensure a smooth, efficient patient experience.

The role requires accuracy in patient records, HIPAA compliance, and strong communication with patients and staff. Familiarity with equipment like OCT and visual field testing is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• PC skills including MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively collaborate with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity, etc.
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems referring to the Optometrist as necessary.
• May be required to schedule referral appointments and complete paperwork.
• Records and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
• May be asked to act as a scribe for the Optometrist or perform refractions.
• Performs end-of-day responsibilities to include schedule wrap-up and checklists.
