Job summary

South East Eye Group Blairsville is seeking an experienced Optometric Technician to support eye exams and patient flow, perform pre-exam tests, acquire retinal images, and assist with contact lens services.

You will work closely with the Optometrist, manage patient records, and ensure accurate documentation while upholding HIPAA standards. Weekend/evening availability is required with a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in optometry, ophthalmology or healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of optical and medical terminology.
• Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing (pre-exam testing, pretesting, visual acuity, etc.)
• Strong communicator and listening skills.
• Problem solving ability.
• Organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs tests to aid the optometrist with vision examinations including visual acuity measurements, depth and color perception tests, and retinal imaging.
• Maintains safety and HIPAA-compliant handling of patient records.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including lens care, trial inventory and patient orders.
• Operates the POS system and processes sales transactions following procedures.
• Ensures equipment maintenance and disinfection; assists the Optometrist as needed.
• Works weekends and evenings as required.
