Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optometric Technician to support optometrists and ensure efficient, high-quality patient care. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage the doctor’s appointment schedule to optimize patient flow.

You will maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA, respond to patient inquiries, and assist with contact lens procedures and end-of-day tasks, while collaborating closely with the care team.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to details and ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment.
• PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally collaborate with co-workers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (e.g., dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity).
• Schedule referral appointments with ophthalmologists and follow-up visits; complete paperwork.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments; liaise with Optometrist as needed.
• Perform diagnostic testing using equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Assist with end-of-day wrap-up, scheduling, and inventory management for contact lens trials.
