Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors with pre-exam testing, patient education, and efficient appointment flow. This role ensures accurate data entry and high-quality patient experiences throughout the visit.

You will assist with testing, scheduling, and basic documentation while collaborating with a professional eye-care team to deliver exceptional service and care.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical recordkeeping.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity).
• Conduct verbal interview with patient before visits to identify issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals and complete related paperwork as needed.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Assist with diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Manage doctor’s appointment schedule to maximize efficiency and patient flow.
• Handle contact lens insertion/removal training and inventory management.
