Job summary

AEG in Colorado Springs (Fountain area) seeks an Optometric Technician to support doctors and enhance patient care. You will perform pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, manage appointments, and help educate patients throughout the visit to ensure a smooth, high‑quality experience.

Qualifications include high school diploma, HIPAA familiarity, and industry certifications (CPO, CPOA, CPOT) are a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity, etc.
• Performs verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues and reasons for their visit to provide details to Optometrist.
• Records and maintain patient records / files in compliance with HIPAA.
• Responds to patient telephone inquiries regarding medication, treatment, problems referring to the Optometrist as necessary.
