Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists and ensure patients receive efficient, high-quality eye care from intake through post-exam tasks. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with diagnostic testing, and manage the doctor’s schedule to maximize appointment flow.

Qualified applicants will have eye-care experience, HIPAA familiarity, and relevant certifications (CPO/CPOA/CPOT). The role includes full-time hours in a fast-paced optometry setting with strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto reflector, visual acuity, etc.
• Schedule referral appointments and complete paperwork as needed.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with policies (HIPAA).
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medication and treatment.
• Conduct diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Manage doctor’s appointment schedule to ensure high-quality patient experiences.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the practice environment.
• May act as scribe for the Optometrist or assist with refractions.
