Job summary

Eye Care Group of Southern Oregon, Grants Pass, is seeking an Optometric Technician I to join our team and support optometrists in delivering patient-centered eye care. You will assist with pre-screening, exams, and post-visit follow-up while learning diagnostic procedures and patient education.

This role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and organization in a fast-paced setting. Prior customer service is welcome, and on-the-job training is provided to help you grow your clinical skills

Qualifications

• 1+ year of customer service experience (optometric preferred)
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Team-oriented with a desire to learn new skills
• Detail-focused with accurate documentation of exams and procedures
• Flexible schedule and proactive attitude toward team success

What You’ll Do

• Assist optometrists in delivering outstanding patient care, from pre-screening to post-exam follow-up
• Perform diagnostic tests, gather patient medical histories, and assist in educating patients about their vision benefits
• Guide patients in contact lens training, insurance verification, and scheduling their next visit
• Ensure smooth patient flow by coordinating appointments and managing office communications
• Work closely with your team to meet individual and collective goals for optimal patient care and satisfaction

What We’re Looking For

• 1+ year of experience in customer service (optometric experience preferred but not required!)
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate and connect with patients
• Strong organizational and time management abilities—you’ll be multitasking in a fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented with a passion for self-improvement and a desire to learn new skills
• Detail-focused and capable of documenting patient exams and procedures with accuracy
• Flexibility to accommodate changing schedules as needed and a proactive attitude toward team success
