Job summary

Eye Care Group of Southern Oregon in Grants Pass is seeking an Optometric Technician I to support our optometrists and deliver top-tier patient care. This role covers pre-screening, diagnostic testing, and patient education to create a smooth, positive visit.

You will work with a collaborative team, handle scheduling, insurance verification, contact lens training, and documentation of patient exams with accuracy.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of customer service experience; optometric experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to educate and connect with patients.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities; multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with a desire to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

• Assist optometrists in delivering outstanding patient care, from pre-screening to post-exam follow-up
• Perform diagnostic tests, gather patient medical histories, and assist in educating patients about their vision benefits
• Guide patients in contact lens training, insurance verification, and scheduling their next visit
• Ensure smooth patient flow by coordinating appointments and managing office communications
• Work closely with your team to meet individual and collective goals for optimal patient care and satisfaction

What We're Looking For:

• 1+ year of experience in customer service (optometric experience preferred but not required!)
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate and connect with patients
• Strong organizational and time management abilities–you'll be multitasking in a fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented with a passion for self-improvement and a desire to learn new skills
• Detail-focused and capable of documenting patient exams and procedures with accuracy
• Flexibility to accommodate changing schedules as needed and a proactive attitude toward team success
