Job summary

VSP Vision is looking for a patient-focused assistant to support the optometrist with eye examinations, pre-testing, patient history intake, and guiding patients through the clinical experience.

You will prepare patients, operate instruments, conduct tests, assist with contact lens insertion, manage trials, and help with insurance verification and administrative tasks.

The role requires 1–2 years in a related field, strong communication, and proficiency with MS Office in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage patient traffic in a clinical setting.
• Proficient in MS Office and basic computer tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and pre-testing.
• Gather patient history information and document in the patient record.
• Explain exam process and guide patients through the clinical experience.
• Prepare patients and operate clinical instruments during testing.
• Perform contact lens insertion and educate patients on care.
• Order and manage contact lens trials and inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications.
