Job summary

VSP Vision is seeking an Eye Care Support role to assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient care. Responsibilities include pre-testing, documenting patient history, and guiding patients through the clinical experience.

Candidates should have 1–2 years of related experience, strong verbal and written communication, and proficiency with MS Office. The role involves collaborating with doctors and staff in a fast-paced clinic environment at our Gold River location.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in related field.
• Working knowledge of MS Office package.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients before the examination by gathering information about vision and medical history, explain exam process and document in the record.
• Work with clinical instruments, take measurements, and administer tests to assess visual capabilities.
• Perform contact lens insertion and educate patients on insertion/removal.
• Order contact lenses and manage trials inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications.
• Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed.
• Prioritize patient care and patient flow; communicate with doctors, staff, and patients.
• Assist in therapy exercises or procedures under Optometrist direction.
• Help in other areas of the office; answer phones, verify insurance, check in/out patients.
• Work on special projects and cross-train in different departments.
