Job summary

Visionworks of America seeks a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to support patient care during on-site and remote eye examinations. You will conduct pre-testing, document results in EMR, and explain procedures to patients.

The role liaises between patients and Optometrists, assists with contact lens orders and insurance preauthorization, and may travel to other locations as needed. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in optical or healthcare settings.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma or GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• Explain preliminary testing and prepare patients for exams.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing and video conferencing.
• Transition patients to retail associates with doctor recommendations.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books.
• Maintain patient records per company standards.
• Instruct patients on contact lens use and care.
• Place and stock contact lens orders as requested.
• Maintain clean, stocked clinical environment.
• Travel to other locations as needed.
